Get Styled Like Gatsby
There’s Plenty To Love About The Twenties

We’re going Gatsby Glam here at Shopcade! The 1920s set has given us so much inspiration we can’t hold it in any longer and must share it with you.

It’s all about fringes, jewels, cocktails and dark red lips. (Not to mention, the sleek , classic suits for men! *swoon*)

I bet we’re not the only ones looking forward to seeing Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan sparkle their way into this adventure and watch the razzle and dazzle of all things from the roaring 1920s.

The Gatsby trend is one worth watching out for, especially if you want to work it into your weekend with a touch of the twenties into your everyday wardrobe by wearing a statement necklace or carrying a fringe bag. Whatever your style, we have something that you just won’t be able to say ‘no’ to!

Stuck for ideas on how to use the gorgeous ‘oh so’ Gatsby theme? Here are a few tips just for you:

  1. A dash of red lipstick to add colour to your work wear (MakeOver International in Artist Intense, from Zolando)
  2. A slight sparkle for that Saturday night out like this jewelled clutch bag (Abigail clutch, from Aftershock London) or these crystal ball earrings (9ct Gold Crystal Ball Stud Earrings, from F&F)
  3. A pair of ankle strap court shoes for popping down to the shops (Taupe Cedarwood Slingback Court Shoes, from Debenhams)
  4. A midi dress for that your friend’s garden party (Jolie Moi Button Front Pleated Midi Dress, from House Of Fraser) or this lace one for a more elegant affair (Navy Lace Overlay Dress, from Dorothy Perkins)
  5. Wedding coming up? How about a 1920s themed hen party? (LSA International Coro Cocktail Glasses, from mydeco.com)
  6. And finally, red nails…for just about every occasion! (Nails Inc. Tate Nail Polish, from Very)

matte-lips

Bright matte lips are your best accessory this summer! (Image via Go Runway)[/caption]

If you are going to carry one thing in your purse this season make sure it’s a tube of bright, matte lipstick!

Let the bold color have all the attention this season by minimizing shine. Bright lips look good on everyone as long as you find a color that best compliments your skin tone. The most universally complimentary color is a bright pink but don’t be afraid to go for a great coral, light red, purple, or my favorite – a mandarin orange!

Nars and Smashbox have some great matte shades but if you are looking for a less expensive option check out Maybelline’s ‘Vivids‘ collection that will only set you back a few dollars.

To make the most of the bright lip keep the rest of your face natural and neutral with minimal color.

bronze

Go for the bronze without ruining your skin! (Image via GoRunway)[/caption]

In the season of sunshine and bikinis we all want to get that sun-kissed glow. There are a number of products available to get that bronzed look without doing permanent damage to your skin in the process.

For your face bronzer is a key part of summer. After you have applied sunscreen (preferably a moisturizer with SPF) and your base sweep on a bronze powder along your cheekbones, forehead, and lightly on the nose and chin. Use the bronzer wherever the sun would naturally touch your face. Try a variety with some pink hues mixed in to give you that natural, flushed look.

For the rest of your body focus on a gradual self-tan product like a great gradual moisturizer by St. Tropez or the even application of Tan Towels. While you can use a spray to expedite the process the easiest way to avoid streaking is to build up the tanned look.

nails1

A bright manicure goes with all your summer looks! (Image via bellasugar.com)

Retire your spring pastels and dare to be bold! This summer eye-catching manicures in bright colors go with everything.

The big color for summer is all shades of pink so a great go-to shade would be a bright watermelon or coral. But don’t be afraid to think outside the box with a trendy tangerine hue.

Brands with some great bold colors include Essie and Deborah Lippman but if you have a favorite brand chances are they have some bright shades of their own!

So get going! The weather is only getting warmer! Start your summer beauty list now on Shopcade with products from Beauty.com and save!

Step into Spring with shoes by Stuart Weitzman

on

Put a little spring in your step with some fabulous looks from Stuart Weitzman.

This month Shopcade has partnered with the brand to offer a chance to win a $200 gift card to get your feet moving in some of the hottest looks.

American designer Stuart Weitzman has been rocking the walkways and runways since he started designing shoes in the 1960′s. Now his designs are world renowned and worn by some of the most fabulous people including brand spokesmodel Kate Moss and Beyonce on her “Mrs. Carter” world tour this summer.

Though Weitzman’s shoes are worn by some of the biggest supermodels and celebrities you don’t have to be one to wear one of his spring looks. All it takes is a desire for style!
             natural-selection-collage

For Spring and Summer 2013 Weitzman has designed a line of shoes to bring you back to nature. The looks feature some classic shapes like oxfords, thong sandals, wedges, and chunky heels made of materials straight from the earth.

The twine, cork, and wood looks are easy to wear all season. The twine oxfords would look great paired with some cuffed skinny jeans or slouchy jean crops! The lightness of the woven twine looks great with pale colors or white and easy fabrics with a lot of movement like sundresses.

The natural sandals are super versatile and would be a great replacement for pairs made of thick plastic or leather.

natural-with-outfit

The natural line looks great with an easy style: jeans, casual dresses and other everyday wear. Wear these when you are out running errands in the sunshine or playing horseshoes at a summer BBQ.

heavy-metals-collage

For the Spring and Summer season Weitzman has also launched a line of deliciously dazzling metallic looks. Whether you choose a classic gold or silver strappy look or a sandal in a pop of color a little shine goes a long way.

Metallic looks are more versatile than many think with golds, silvers, pewters, bronzes, and brass tones going with just about everything; like jewelry.

metallic
Weitzman looks “Metalmania” and “Pantheon” would go great with looks like this coral dress by Nanette Lepore and this white shirt-dress by Halston Heritage.[/caption]

A metallic sandal looks great paired casually with jeans or a beachy maxi dress but can also be worn when you hit the town or attend an event.

Think of a metallic sandal as jewelry. A silver sandal is like a silver necklace – it can complement any color, fabric, or print without having to match it. Metallic shoes are great for those outfits that you can never find shoes for like navy and white. An investment your wardrobe will thank you for!

classic-contrast-collage1Black and white will take you from day to night!

The classic contrast of black and white is one of the springs hottest trends in sportswear, resort wear, and footwear. A great black and white shoe is classic yet unique on its own and can complement a work look just as well as a funky party dress.

Weitzman’s black and white menswear inspired loafers are a great casual look with cuffed ankle jeans or some bright crops!

black-and-white
Wear black and white to work or out running errands with the “Sweepstakes” pump paired with an Alice + Olivia dress and “Guything” loafers with skinnies and a casual crew sweatshirt from T by Alexander Wang.[/caption]

The collection of heels are great transitional pieces that can get take you right from the office to the party. These looks are timeless and will always be in style. These pieces are classic, not vampy!

So get to it and start shopping! The deals are waiting for you!

Amazing Amy Tells All

on

Amazing Trendsetter, Amy Zwaan, was recently interviewed by Metro and now she’s telling us all about how she uses Shopcade to suit her lifestyle…

amy-zwaan-metro-blog-post
So, Amy, what do you use Shopcade for?

For me it makes my shopping easier as so many brands that I love are already in one place, and I can add products from my favourite websites too if they aren’t already on Shopcade. It’s also great to search for something specific and compare the deals and other people’s comments against all the retailers.

I can see what I want clearly by creating lists of things of things I like so it’s easy to actually see how an outfit would look and what the best price would be for it.

What’s your favourite thing about Shopcade?

It really saves me money.

Shopcade allows me to add the things I want, and then shows me the best deal for them. It’s great that I can create lists of things I want for when payday rolls in so everything I want is in one place, not dotted all over the internet!

The biggest benefit I find from using Shopcade is it stops me from impulse buying! Instead I can easily compare deals across different retailers. Long gone are the days where I trail the high street and buy the first thing that looks about right, regardless of the cost.

What deals have you found on Shopcade?

Recently I found the most amazing deal on this gorgeous bunny lamp from notonthehighstreet.com. I paid full price for one over Christmas and fell in love with it so much I needed another one (got to have the matching set) so it was even better to find it on offer too!

Girl Meets Dress, Not On The High Street and Paul’s Boutique are some of my favourite brands that usually have brilliant deals on their products.

What’s the last thing you bought through Shopcade?

My mum’s birthday was just a few weeks ago, so I created a whole list of gift ideas and shared it with my family so we could co-ordinate presents she would love as well as saving ourselves some money (to reimburse into other gifts of course)!

Like what you see? Follow Amy on Shopcade here and check out her lovely lists and amazing adds.

Sometimes, we like to have a little nosey into different people’s lives. This time, it’s Featured US Trendsetter Amanda Williams’ turn to spill all about her life and her home!

Describe yourself in 3 words:
Colorful, Unique, Free-Spirited

We already know you’re a trendy Shopcader, but what’s your ‘day’ job?

I’m currently freelancing in Image Retouching for E-commerce at Lord and Taylor.

If you could pick one item from Shopcade to take home today, what would it be?

This closet organizer from ClosetMaid. I need to organize my closet and be able to see my clothes easier!

What makes a ‘home’ special to you?

Being able to feel the personality of the people who live there.

Finish this sentence: I know it’s Spring when _____?

I can shed my huge winter coat, and take all the big sweaters out of my closet!

What colors are you loving for your home this Spring?

I recently bought a bedding set that includes all of my favorites this spring! The fitted sheet and pillow cases are polka dotted, the flat sheet is white with tan pinstripes, and the comforter is black with pastel green and pink flowers. It all goes together perfectly!

What top products are you loving at the moment?

I really love JCPenney and this vase from the Happy Chic Jonathan Adler collection is just perfect for my home! I also really like this cute cupcake stand from QVC – who doesn’t love cupcakes?!

This tent canopy from Broostone is amazing, such a great idea! And I’m also considering getting this edge shelf for my couch from Homeclick.

Also, this sleeper couch from Urban Outfitters is the most gorgeous convertible couch I’ve ever seen! I would love to have this in my apartment for when friends spend the night. It would also be perfect in a studio as a bed and couch.

Mum’s The Word – Mother’s Day Q&A

on

It’s March! This only means one thing: Mother’s Day.

Lost for what to buy for your fantastically, already-has-everything-she-needs mum? Rattled your brains for hours on end and realized that you’ve bought her everything under the sun already? Don’t worry, Shopcade is here to help!

We’ve interviewed two of our very own Mummy Bloggers to find out what they think of Mother’s Day, hopefully it’ll give you that much-needed boost of inspiration:

Mummy Muse No.1: Jo Gifford from Dexterous Diva

Mother's Day Picks - Dexterous DivaWhat ‘Mum’ are you?
Career mum, but a Freelance Mum so I work around the kids and have different weeks – it’s probably best to describe me as a Varied Mum! Loving, Messy, Excitable Mum probably does it most justice!

Describe yourself in three words…
Creative, busy, geek

What are you hoping for this Mother’s Day?
The best thing in the whole world for me is just a cuddle with my Mini Divas. So, I long for a sofa snuggle with a film, some popcorn and oh, maybe some L’Occitane Body Lotion if I have been a good girl!

What ‘golden rule’ have you learned from your own Mum?
I think to embrace culture and learning as children is a huge thing Mum taught me. We loved reading from an early age as my girls do too, and just being able to soak up everything around you is something I learned as being really important as a child.  I have also learned some of mum’s best phrases for telling off children and I hear it in my own voice sometimes, scarily!

What do you love most about being a Mother?
Just enjoying play with my girls and being part of their world. Oh, and baking cakes is a bit good too.

Check out Jo Gifford’s full Mother’s Day List here.

Mummy Muse No.2: Helena Wilson-Beevers from Mummy Mode, Style Nest

Mother's Day Picks Style NestWhat ‘Mum’ are you?
Fashion Fanatic Mum

Describe yourself in three words…
Never without mascara.

What are you hoping for this Mother’s Day?
This Mother’s Day I would like anything at all from my Mother’s Day Hints Shopcade list, and in particular this fabulous Mulberry Tamara Scarf – perfect for jazzing up the school run!

What ‘golden rule’ have you learned from your own Mum?
To always “be kind to yourself”, as being a Mum is the toughest and most challenging job there is.

What do you love most about being a Mother?
I love watching my children grow and develop their own, very different, personalities. Whether we are baking, reading, dancing or laughing, I learn something from them both every single day.

Check out Helena Wilson-Beevers’ full Mother’s Day List here.

Still stuck on what to buy Mum? Why not Invite your Mum to Shopcade here to create her ‘Most Wanted List’ to share with you? (Better than droopy daffodils from the petrol station!)

You can also find Shopcade’s own Mother’s Day gift ideas here.

Inspired by London Fashion Week

on

London Fashion Week A/W 2013 (LFW) is hitting the catwalks tomorrow and as top models strut the latest trends from some of the biggest fashion houses, we thought now is the time to hear from our very own Shopcade fashion experts.

Shopcade decided to ask three of our very own fashionistas what particular brands they’re loving for London Fashion Week and to give us some style tips of their own…

Fashionista No.1: Hannah Phillips from BANGS

I chose Harrods because…
Harrods is classically lavish and reflects on the British style.

The trends you’ll see me in this Spring/Summer are…
I love the black and white monochrome that’s storming the catwalk for Spring/Summer 2013, whether it be vertical or horizontal stripes or block colors – it’s going to be huge this season!

The product I love most on Shopcade for LFW this February is…
It’s quite hard to choose just one product from Shopcade, but this Skull Padlock Yellow Clutch Bag by Alexander McQueen is to die for and works really well with this Asymmetric Leather Jacket!

See my full Harrods Wishlist here.

Fashionista No.2: Nathalie Bishop from NO NO COCO

I am loving Miss Selfridge because…
Miss Selfridgeis really good at interpreting catwalk trends. The vintage style collections are always really nice too so I chose the brand as it is always one of my go-to shops for interpreting trends on a reasonable budget.

The trends you’ll see me in this Spring/Summer are…
London Fashion Week kicks off on Friday 15th and I am so excited for it all. Every season it’s always really fun to see what big trends are going to emerge. This summer I am going to be wearing a lot of monochrome a la Louis Vuitton either that or a whole lot of blue and pink.

The product I love most on Shopcade for LFW this February is…
I’ve got a few favorites on Shopcade at the moment and have added them all to my feed. My absolute favorite is Acne‘s Intarsia Knit Dillard Jumper, I would wear it everyday!

See my full Miss Selfridge Wishlist Here.

Fashionista No.3: Natasha Footman from GIRL IN THE LENS

I chose Reiss because…
Reiss is a fantastic shop for getting staple pieces to hit all the key trends. Monochrome is all the rage this season, and Reiss have some fantastic basics that will be great for building black and white outfits, but I’m also loving the other trends, such as metal accessories, florals, oriental patterns, geometry and mannish silhouettes. Plus, the great thing about this season’s trends is that they can all be mixed and matched.

The trends you’ll see me in this Spring/Summer are…
LFW has yet to kick off this season, but from last season’s runways it was all about sheer whites for me. So elegant and chic, but with a real modern feel. As seen on Dion Lee and Christopher Kane.

The product I love most on Shopcade for LFW this February is…
As it’s looking to stay cold, a simple white jumper like this one from Reiss is a must. It’s pieces like this that you can build multiple outfits around. I’d layer this jumper over a black maxi and team with a small cross-body bag for a chic fashion week look, and the next day pair it with ripped boyfriend jeans, pointed-toe heels and a clutch. Plus, it’s a fantastic piece for everyday wear too with skinny jeans and boots!

See my full Reiss Wishlist here.
